NEFCO, a North American biosolids management leader, recently announced the promotion of Virginia (Ginny) M. Grace to the role of vice president of marketing and environmental affairs. NEFCO specializes in designing, building, and operating sludge processing facilities to produce a free flowing granular Class A biosolids product that is readily used as either a product in premium fertilizer or as a renewable fuel.
With over 25 years in the environmental field in both the public and private sectors, and having served as the business development manager at NEFCO since 1996, Grace brings experience with the development, environmental compliance, and product marketing for all of NEFCO's biosolids projects. As the President for the North East Biosolids & Residuals Association (NEBRA) since 2010, Grace also plays a key policy development and leadership role in the biosolids industry.
"NEFCO is in an aggressive growth phase that is focusing not only on expansion, but on the renewable nature of our end products, along with the energy efficiency and energy generation benefits of our biosolids management process," said General Manager Jim Sullivan. "Ginny's in-depth knowledge of our industry and the environmental compliance issues so critical to our success represent a fraction of her many strengths; I am pleased to have her on NEFCO's executive management team."
Reporting directly to Sullivan, Grace will develop strategic alliances and growth opportunities for NEFCO and will be responsible for management of all company marketing efforts including the company's newly designed website www.nefcobiosolids.com and all rebranding activities. In addition, she will have executive oversight and responsibility for the environmental affairs of the company, including compliance, renewable energy credits, and participation on industry and policy-making committees.
"This is a very important time for our company and the industry as a whole," Grace commented. "NEFCO provides solutions to communities that have to manage their biosolids in a cost-effective, energy efficient, and environmentally sensitive manner. I look forward to participating in the development of projects that offer our clients safe, more integrated, and lower cost alternatives for comprehensive wastewater and biosolids treatment and disposal."
Prior to joining NEFCO, Grace previously held several roles at Wheelabrator Technologies Inc., where her professional experience included managing environmental programs and supervising environmental audits at large waste-to-energy facilities throughout the country. Early in her career, Ginny worked as a Chemist for the City of Portsmouth, NH Water Department. She also served as a regulator for the NH Department of Environmental Services for several years in both the solid waste and wastewater divisions. In addition to serving as the current President of NEBRA, she has served on the organization's Board of Directors since 2006, and has been an active member of the Water Environment Federation since 1994.
