Designed to satisfy OSHA standard CFR 1910.23 (which requires the exposed sides of roof openings to have some form of guardrail protection), Bilco’s new BIL-Guard (patent pending) is a fixed railing system that provides a permanent means of fall protection for hatch openings. Tested and proven to meet and exceed OSHA fall protection regulations, the BIL-Guard mounts directly to the capflashing of any brand of roof hatch. Utilizing an innovative attachment system that does not penetrate the roofing membrane, the BIL-Guard is easily installed using basic tools and does not require special training or certification for proper installation. The attachment system features a quick-mount bracket for fast, secure attachment, and a pivoting mounting sleeve for added installation flexibility.
The BIL-Guard Hatch Railing System is constructed of a durable fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material that features a molded-in, high-visibility yellow color for added safety. The use of this material, combined with corrosion resistant hardware throughout, allows Bilco to provide a 25 year warranty on this product. It is available in a variety of sizes and features a standard self-closing gate to ensure continuous fall protection and maintain OSHA compliance.
